This course surveys the physical architecture of an AI factory, from utility interconnection and on-site generation through medium-voltage distribution, mechanical cooling plant, and the IT white space, and introduces the SAVRN OctoPod platform as the operating model that ties these systems together. Students trace the power and cooling path of a representative rack, map major mechanical and electrical equipment to the OctoPod procedure library (OCT-PMP references), and navigate the SAVERN Assets tagging and work-record system used across the Institute's lab network. The course distinguishes air-cooled from direct-liquid-cooled rack architectures at a conceptual level and introduces the Uptime Institute Tier classification framework as a common vocabulary for facility resiliency. Students are not expected to operate live equipment in this course; the emphasis is orientation and shared vocabulary across the CORE, DCO, NET, HIT, ELV, EMV, MEC, SEC, SDB, and AIO departments that follow. The course concludes with a facility walkthrough or virtual-twin tour.

  7. Summarize the facility rotation and physical-separation policy that governs student access to live IT and power spaces.
  8. Complete a guided facility or digital-twin walkthrough and produce a component identification log.
