THE ORGANIZING IDEA
One building, five levels of trust
Access increases as you move through the building: a public civic front, a supervised community band, the academic neighborhood upstairs, qualification-gated technical labs on slab-on-grade, and a service edge that never touches public space. The building itself is a teaching instrument — selected power, cooling and network data stay visible through governed interfaces.
01 · ZONE A — THE FRONT DOOR
Arrive
A weather-protected civic entry lands you between reception and the café — welcomed, oriented, never funneled past anything you should not see.
Welcome, Reception & Café
A copper-clad reception desk with visitor management; a café counter for coffee and light service; a public restroom core sized for independent evening operation.
Flow. Reception is the single managed threshold between the public Commons and everything academic — the secure portal sits in its sightline.
02 · ZONE A — THE CIVIC HEART
The Commons & the Hall
About 5,750 net square feet of contiguous public capacity that runs evenings and weekends on its own — while the rest of the building stays secured.
The SAVRN Commons
The civic heart, not a lobby: café seating, communal tables, exhibits, event prefunction. The digital wall carries governed AI-factory operational data, and a heritage machine-tool exhibit ties the 1900s trade school to the AI training floor. The Visualization Studio overlooks it from the mezzanine.
Flow. Every public journey starts and ends here. Deliveries never cross it.
Community Learning / Event Hall
A flat-floor hall for workshops, AI literacy, civic meetings, hackathons and recruiting. An operable partition opens the hall to the Commons for combined events; event storage opens directly into the hall so rolling furniture never uses corridors.
Flow. Partition open, Commons + Hall become one continuous civic room.
03 · ZONE B — THE TRANSITION
Supervised Learning
Between open community space and the enrolled academic core sits a supervised band: scheduled, staffed, and visible through teaching glazing.
Community Technology Lab
Powered tables and an interactive teaching wall for community AI-literacy and technology programs — open to the neighborhood on a scheduled, supervised basis.
Flow. The first step of the access gradient: public, but staffed and scheduled.
Flexible AI / Maker Innovation Lab
3D printing, electronics benches, robotics kits and project storage — prototyping with AI copilots on every bench, sharing the technical prep room for persistent projects.
Flow. Community members build here before any restricted-lab qualification.
04 · ZONE C — UPSTAIRS
The Academic Neighborhood
The partial upper floor lifts classrooms, computing and faculty above the noise, heat and moisture of the technical wing — with the Visualization Studio overlooking the Commons void.
Digital Visualization Studio
A curved LED wall driven by the AI factory's digital twin; loose furniture on casters; the room overlooks the Commons through the double-height void.
Flow. The public-to-academic hinge — visible from the Commons floor below.
Flexible Technical Classrooms
The primary instructional module — rapid switching among instruction, coding, demonstration, critique and team work, on the classroom collaboration spine.
Flow. The center of the upstairs neighborhood.
Network Engineering / Fiber Lab
Structured copper and optical fiber, switching fundamentals, splicing stations and patch racks under overhead cable tray.
Flow. Clusters with hardware and compute around the demonstration backbone.
Hardware / GPU / IT Systems Lab
Server hardware and rack-and-stack training on NVL72-class reference systems; Linux for data centers; anti-static work zones with airflow containment.
Flow. The same rack discipline the factory floor runs on.
Applied AI / Compute Studio & Capstone Lab
Cluster bring-up, fabric and scheduler operations on governed instructional systems; capstone teams carry projects to demonstration. Faculty suite and study commons complete the quiet west side.
Flow. Connects directly to the technical teaching labs one level down.
05 · ZONE D — SLAB-ON-GRADE
The Technical Wing
Heavy, wet and energized training stays at grade on the service edge — entered only through PPE transition, supplied only from receiving, and displayed to the building through glass.
The Zone D Gateway
The restricted wing is entered one way: circulation, then PPE transition, then technical prep, then the labs. Teaching glazing puts the labs on display while architecture — not just card readers — enforces the threshold.
Flow. Safety-state displays make energization status legible before anyone crosses.
Low-Voltage Electrical Lab
National Electrical Code fundamentals, conduit bending and panel wiring on framed training walls, with local lockable disconnects and selective energization per bay.
Flow. Shares prep, tools and PPE with the whole industrial wing.
Power Systems / Medium-Voltage Training Lab
A de-energized switchgear lineup, transformer trainer, arc-flash boundary marking and lockout-tagout stations — the NFPA 70E qualified-person path, with a roll-up door on the equipment replacement route.
Flow. Big equipment arrives from receiving — never through the front of house.
Mechanical / Liquid-Cooling Lab
HVACR fundamentals through liquid-cooling operations: coolant distribution units, rear-door heat exchangers, pump skids with clear piping loops and a chiller trainer on a drained wet-lab floor.
Flow. The cooling loop students trace here is the loop the factory runs on.

Access accumulates: enrollment opens the academic floor; qualification and supervision open the technical wing. Room access alone never grants system access.
